Why should you upgrade wireless driver in your Gateway® FX6831 Series laptop?


Gateway® has introduced a new laptop, Gateway® FX6831 with1.66 GHz Core™ 2 Duo T5450 processor. It uses ATI Radeon™ HD5850 graphics. The laptop uses a 1.5TB SATA hard drive, which is a DVD drive that is highly compatible with Microsoft® Windows® 7. The laptop gives better performance with 8 GB DDR3 RAM and a Blu-ray drive. Gateway® FX6831 is installed with a wireless driver. The wireless driver is an open source driver supporting new emerging wireless, cards such as WaveLAN/ORiNOCO, Cabletron, SkyLINE and D-link PCMIA cards. The driver provides wireless access up to 802.11b to powerbook users with PCMIA cards. This driver also supports many type of vendor cards. While you are working with your Gateway® FX6831, you might sometimes wish to upgrade your wireless driver. It might be because of various reasons like driver works slowly, requirement of updated version of driver, or outdated drivers. Enhanced hardware requires updating of drivers for improved performance. The new driver is about five times faster than the 802.11b driver.

Hanging of operating system



While you are installing a wireless driver on your Gateway® FX6831, you might see your operating system getting frequent hang ups. You can solve this problem by uninstalling wireless driver from the laptop and reinstalling it again after rebooting the system.



Blue screen error



When you are attempting to install the wireless driver in your Gateway® FX6831, you might get a blue screen error on your laptop screen. The problem arises because of hardware compatibility issues or lack of memory. You have to create a backup of your files and to reinstall the operating system. If problem is with lack of memory, you have to add more memory modules.



Registry Error
