Gateway® One ZX4300–Series Restore

Need and consequences of restoring Gateway® ZX4300 series to its factory default settings

Gateway® One ZX4300 is the new all-in-one desktop from Gateway® series. The new system is equipped with a 20-inch HD widescreen Ultrabright™ LCD with a resolution of 1600x900 pixels. The system is compatible with 64-bit version of Microsoft® Windows® 7 Home Premium. The system uses an Athlon™ II X2 Dual-Core Processor 235e processor with a speed of 2.7GHZ and a 2MB L2 cache. The system is equipped with an embedded high-definition audio which has a 2.1 channel support and new stereo speakers. The system allows faster Internet access through new 10/100/1000 Gigabit LAN card, 6 USB 2.0 ports and an integrated 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi™ certified card. The system uses a 4GB DDR3 dual channel memory. You might require restoring your system if you forget the password or if your system is the infected with malware infection which you are unable to remove with antivirus software.

The following are some of the consequences of restoring your Gateway® ZX4300 series system to its factory default :

  • Loss of applications

  • Loss of operating system

  • Loss of drivers

Loss of applications

With the restoring process, you might be going back to the initial state of your system. You might have installed a number of applications in your system. As you restore the system, the system might lose all its applications which were installed previously in the system. You could recover these applications if you have a recovery disk. But, if the applications are not saved in the recovery disk then it might be impossible for you to use the applications again.

Loss of operating system

The new Gateway® ZX4300 does not keep a backup of the operating system in its hard disk. When you restore the system, you might lose the operating system. Since you do not have any backup of operating system you need to create one. Then you need to copy the recovered operating system to a CD or DVD. If you have not provided any backup, then you might not be able to use the operating system again.

Loss of drivers

You might have a number of drivers in your system for different applications. When you do the restoring, the system might lose features of its drivers. Sometimes, you might lose the driver itself. If you do not keep the backup of the drivers, then you might not be able to use the driver again. It is better to create a backup of all drivers in Gateway® ZX4300 before doing any restoring process.
