Microsoft® Works Database

Before we fully make an analysis of the Microsoft® Works Database, let us have a quick look at what Microsoft® Works is.

Microsoft® Works is also an office suite, although it is a lot smaller with fewer features than the Microsoft® Office suite. It is also a product of Microsoft®. The main functioning components of Microsoft® Works are a word processor, a spreadsheet and a database.

Microsoft® Works is packaged in most Windows®-based PC at no fee and usually comes for free. It gives the option to users who have not purchased and upgraded to Microsoft® Office to create their documents, workbooks and databases.

Overview

Of late, most users take the option to use the full featured Microsoft® Office with the likes of Microsoft® Word, Microsoft® Excel®, and Microsoft® Access®, and have uninstalled Microsoft® Works from their computer systems.

When this happens, all the work done erstwhile on Microsoft® Works will no longer exist and the files created with it will no longer be available to open as well.  This will be the case for all databases in. wdb file extension created by Microsoft® Works.

When Microsoft® Works Database file fail to open or cannot be read, extracted or viewed, there is actually nothing that can be done. However, there is a provision for a Microsoft® Works Database Converter, which can perhaps help in retrieving the data and try to salvage the data into the database.

However, if Microsoft® Works is installed, then the Microsoft® Works Database can be used to export and save the database in CSV or other transferable format that can be used to import into Microsoft® Excel®, Microsoft® Access® or other program.

Usages

The Microsoft® Works Database Converter can come in handy for users only when the database file has been created by Microsoft® Works. It can convert previously Microsoft® Works Database (*.wdb) files into a spreadsheet compatible with all versions of Microsoft® Excel®.

The data extraction is carried out with all the effort that can be pursued. It works pretty well provided that there is just one table of data per file during the process. Numeric fields can be affected by some compatibility..
