Windows® XP MBR Backup

Need to backup MBR of Windows® XP and various tools that can be used

The master boot recorder (MBR) is a small program that is executed when computer boots up. It is a section of storage space on hard drive that is used for the maintenance of data needed to initiate a boot of the system. This program uses the partition information (or partition table) stored at the end of the sector to determine which partition is bootable (usually the first primary MSDOS® partition), and then attempts to boot from it. It is necessary to back up MBR of Windows® XP as there are lots of chances of MBR to become corrupted. The master boot code is the first program executed when you turn on your PC, and is often the target of a virus. When it becomes corrupted it might not be possible to boot up the hard drive at all. When it gets corrupted or damaged serious data loss will occur. MBR is easily affected by malicious code, becomes corrupted by disk errors, or might be overwritten by other boot loaders when experimenting with multiple operating systems on a host. So, backup master boot record is an essential backup step to avoid any unwanted circumstances or in case something goes wrong that messes up the MBR. It should be ensured that the backup copies must be able to restore back master boot record in the future.
