You may receive some errors like “The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed” or “Windows Installer Service couldn't be started” or “Access is denied”.

The first reason may be that the installing or updating programs in Windows may not have completed successfully. This happens when the installation media may be unreadable or if the downloaded or copied installation files may be corrupt or if the programs that are currently running on your computer may be interfering with the installation process. Another reason for corruption in Windows Installer may be that the uninstalled programs may not be completely removed.



Tips to repair


First restart the computer in normally. You should then re-register Windows Installer. For this go to the 'Run' option from the Start' menu and enter "%windir%system32" in the Run box and press 'ok' and then enter the position of the 'Msiexec.exe' file, which is a combination of the address and the file name "C:Windowssystem32Msiexec.exe". Once again navigate to Run and enter 'Regedit' and navigate to 'System' in "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE". Under 'System' find 'CurrentControlSet' and then 'Services. Find 'MSIServer' and then right click 'ImagePath' and 'Modify'. Now enter 'Msiexec.exe' along with the address in the 'Value' data box. Close the editor after exiting 'Edit Sting' and restart your system in Safe Mode and again log in and click on 'Start' and then click on "Run". At this time type 'msiexec /regserver' in the box and click 'Ok'. If the operating system is 64-bit, type "%windir%Syswow64Msiexec /regserver" and click 'Ok' and restart your computer. If Windows Installer still isn't installing programs correctly you will have to reinstall Windows Installer.
