Runtime errors have been plaguing Microsoft® Internet Explorer®

Microsoft® Internet Explorer® often referred to as IE, is the most popular web browser in the whole world. The major reason for its popularity is it comes bundled with any Windows® operating system and it is much more convenient to just use it than look for and install another browser.

Try these suggestions to fix Internet Explorer® or maybe just your browsing experience:

  • Disable script debugging

  • Reset Internet Explorer®

  • Use the Microsoft® Fix-it utility

  • Use another browser

Disable Script Debugging

One of the reasons that cause Internet Explorer® to report errors is faulty scripts from certain sites. Most of the time, these scripts work well but when they don’t the debugger would catch and error and show it to the user. You can effectively eliminate these errors by simply disabling the debugger. You can do this by going to the Internet Options under the Tools menu. In the advanced tab, scroll down to the Browsing section.

Reset Internet Explorer®

Another option is to reset Internet Explorer® so that it reverts to how it was when it was installed. You cannot do this with Internet Explorer® open so you should close IE along with all other running applications. Launch the Internet Explorer® settings by typing inetcpl.cpl in the run dialog of Windows® XP or in the search bar for Windows® 7 and Windows Vista®. Under the advanced tab, you would find the reset button close to the bottom.

Use the Microsoft® Fix-it Utility

Microsoft® Fix-it utility solution solves various runtime related issues. You can open Microsoft® support site and download free utility software. A double click on downloaded file will make you run and follow the written instructions.

Use another browser

Microsoft® has created the Fix-it utility as a quick and easy solution for the most common issues. You can go to the Microsoft® support site and download the utility for free. Just run the downloaded file by double clicking it and follow the instructions that it provides.

If for some reason you are not able to fix the Internet Explorer® runtime errors after trying all of the above suggestions, it may be easier to simply switch to another browser and see if that solves your problem. Firefox® from Mozilla® and Chrome™ from Google™ are the two leading substitutes for Internet Explorer®. You can download both for free from their respective home pages.
