If the CD drive or DVD drive in your PC is missing or is not recognized by Windows® or other programs, then follow the easy 7-step resolution given below to solve this problem. Each step is accompanied by an indicative screenshot for ease of mirroring the action.
Restart your PC:
Exit ”Registry Editor” and then restart your computer.
Note: After you remove the UpperFilters registry entry and the LowerFilters registry entry, you may lose some functionality in certain programs such as CD recording programs. So, you can reinstall the affected programs to enjoy its complete functionalities. If the problem recurs, contact the program vendor to find out if any update is available for the program.
Caution: There can be several instances of the registry subkey as mentioned in Step 2. Before modifying the UpperFilters and the LowerFilters values, you should make sure that you are in the appropriate registry subkey. You can verify that you are in the appropriate registry subkey, by ensuring that the Default data value is DVD/CD-ROM and the Class data value is CDROM.
You have accessed the registry editor of your system and removed all those registry entries, which were leading to this error. This makes some programs to work improperly. We recommend that you backup the registry before making changes in the Windows registry editor.
