Support for Windows Live®

What are the different ways resolving installation issues in Windows Live® ?

While installing Windows Live® messenger there are various errors that prevent the installation. There could be multiple reasons behind the errors and there are specific solutions for them.

Here we will talk about the issues and resolutions of Windows Live® messenger installation.

  • The system does not meet the minimum system requirements for Windows Live® manager
  • Do not have administrative rights
  • Earlier version of Windows Live® messenger already present
  • Required file for installation is in use

he system does not meet the minimum system requirements for Windows Live® manager

You need to confirm that the system meets the basic requirements for installation. If the requirements are not met, the system would not be able to install Windows Live® messenger. The system requirements can be checked online. Check the hard disk space left on the system, to do that right click on the ‘C:’ drive and check on ‘Properties’. If the hard disk space is limited then you need to opt for a disk clean up which will increase the hard disk space. Afterwards try to install Windows Live® messenger confirming other specifications.

Do not have administrative rights

Installation would not be complete if the user does not have administrative rights. In order to check on the system whether you have the administrative rights right click on ‘My Computer’ and go to ‘Manage’. Under the ‘Computer Management’ tab, click on local users and groups, groups, administrators. Right click on it and check whether the user profile reflects in the list. If your name does not appear in the list, it means you do not have administrative rights. If it appears then you can go ahead with the installation or if you have the administrative password. You can log in as administrator to install Windows Live® messenger.

Earlier version of Windows Live® messenger already present

At times the earlier versions of the programs are already present on the system and the users unknowingly install the Windows Live® messenger. To check whether you have the Windows Live® manager or not, click on ‘Start’ and in the search box type in “control appwiz.cpl”. The programs and features icon would come up. Remove the application entry and try installing the Windows Live® messenger.

Required file for installation is in use

If the required file for installation is already in use by another application the installation would not go forward. To check on all the installation files are not in use remove the earlier version of Windows Live® messenger installed on the computer. To remove it open the ‘start’ search box and type in “control appwiz.cpl”. Then, remove the Windows Live® messenger.
